Double Stars

Mizar & Alcor (Ursa Major)

The images above are of Mizar and Alcor found in Ursa Major. They can be seen, split with the naked eye and are a pleasing sight in the telescope.

Mizar and Alcor are separated by 0 degrees, 11' and 48"

Mizar is also a double star, as seen in the second image and separated by 14", so its quite an easy double star to see in a telescope.

Albireo (Cygnus)

Albireo in Cygnus is an amazing double star system, with one star bright orange and the dimmer a shade of blue.

Separated by only 34" these are very easy to split and look even better with the large star fields in Cygnus.
