M13 - The Great Hercules Globular Cluster

09.08.07

Orion ED80 - 7 x 4mins @ ISO 800

At the top middle of the image below, I think I have just managed to capture the faint galaxy IC 4617 (mag 15.5).

The image below shows the wider field of view with the galaxy NGC6207.

Also note the meteor streak to the right top

These images were taken with the Orion ED80 on an HEQ5 mount. A stack of around 3 images of 30 seconds each.

This is a reprocess of the images below using a dark frame. I think there is a bit more detail in the cluster.

The above image was taken in pretty stormy weather and even in these windy conditions i have managed to capture my best shot of the globular. This is a larger version of my nights imaging session. A closer view of M13 showing some orange coloured stars.
20 x 30 second images totaling 10 mins of exposure once stacked.

The tracking on this image was not that bad for 46 seconds and in the top right i have just managed to capture a galaxy NGC6207. Its very faint but just visible as a smudge on the RAW image files.
