Lunar Reports
April 2005
19th April 2005 – First lunar report
The sky was still very bright but I finally managed to get some viewing of the moon.
I couldn’t push the magnification to high as the haze and cirrus clouds drowned out a lot of detail.
Using low powers worked great and a wealth of detail started to come into view.
The best crater was Tycho and the central peak looked great n the low mags. I think this has been the first time I have noticed the crater, other than when it was full moon and the rays would easily locate Tycho.
There were a lot of great looking shaded craters to the south, all of which I don’t know yet, but these reports shall help me learn.
Copernicus was at the terminator and could just be viewed. I couldn’t make out much detail due to the clouds rolling in obscuring the view.
Overall I was happy with this quick view of the moon and glad I have started to write lunar reports.
Clear skies.
