All Grain Kit
13.09.08
This is a modified 10 gallon bin which I use as my boiler. I bought a few cheap kettles from Tesco (£4.90 each) and removed the element and installed it in the bin.
This seems to work very well and doesn't take too long to start boiling the water.
Wort strainer in the cool box. I have removed the metal clips as they are not stainless. The plastic pipe still keeps the strained in place.
The photo below shows another element installed to a fermentation bin. I only use this to warm the water up and not to bring it to a boil.

Next up is the immersion chiller system. Bought a 10m x 10mm of micro bore copper pipe and wrapped it around a tin of paint to create the coil.
Cold water goes in one end and hot water comes out the other as the chiller system is in use. Works very well and cools the wort in around 20-30 min's.
This is the hop strainer. I have since re-built it as this design did not drain enough liquid.

I have upgraded the hop strainer in the boiler as it wasn't working correctly so I have made a new one. This time it works with a sython effect so as to drain as much of the wort as possible.
Also required to repair the ends of the immersion chiller as when the water was passing through the ends were not fully sealed and kept falling off.
